Trunk or Treat

Johnson Pumpkin Farm

Friday, October 16th we took our field trip to Johnson Pumpkin Farm. The kids had a great time! They had a chat with Farm Joan, a hayride, visited animals, played in the play yard, and even got to take their own pumpkin home.
Unfortunately, the kids were not able to go cut their pumpkin out of the patch because of mud but they did get their hayride and were able to see the pumpkin patch. They were just as happy doing that.
The straw barn was a big hit with our class. They really liked going down the stairs to the secret tunnel. They also found some straw that they were able to jump off of.
Thanks to all the parent volunteers that were able to attend the trip with us. We are looking forward to our Spring field trip!!!

Apple Week

Last week was apple week in our class. We learned about Johnny Appleseed, his life, and the life cycle of an apple.
During the week we did many different activities throughout the week with apples. We did a taste testing one day and tasted different types of apples. We then graphed each students favorite kind and talked about which our classes favorite and which was our least favorite.
We also made Johnny Appleseed sandwiches and our own applesauce. The kids each took part in preparing the applesauce and we had it for snack that afternoon.
One of the kids favorite activity was the story of the Little Red House. I sent that story home in your child's folder, be sure to read it or ask your child about the story.
Here are a few pictures of the kids making and eating their Johnny Appleseed sandwiches.
