Substitute Teacher

I will be gone on Thursday, February 19 and Friday, February 20. My husband's grandfather passed away on Saturday so we are going out of town for the funeral. I also found out last night that my great-grandpa passed away. There is a chance that I will be gone one day next week for his services but I do not have any of the details yet. I apologize for all of my absences. I have already let the students know that I will not be at school for the next two days. Thanks for your understanding.

Spring Field Trip

On Friday, May 8th we will be going to the Kansas City Zoo for our spring field trip.  The kids are really excite for this since we didn't have the best weather for our first field trip.  We will be taking as many parents that would like to go.  The students are paid for but the chaperones will need to pay $8.00.  Please let me know if you are interested in going.  We do ask that younger siblings to not attend.  They will get this opportunity when they are in kindergarten.  Please understand that bus transportation will be limited so there is a possibility that you may have to drive your own vehicle.  There is always the option of carpooling with another parents chaperone.  We are very excited for this event and hope you are able to come along with us!!!

100th Day of School

Last Monday we celebrated the 100th Day of School.  It is crazy to think that this group has been with me for over 100 days of school.  They have been a wonderful group and I am anxious for the fun times we will have the rest of the school year.
On this particular day we do activities pertaining to 100 all day long.  We write 1 - 100, we make a hat, show and share the 100 day posters the students make, make a 100 day snack, and many other fun activities.
One of the girls enjoying her snack and juice.
Each student had the opportunity to bring in 100 snack items (cheerios, skittles, pretzels, etc.) and we combine them all together to make a mix for our snack on this day.  The kids really enjoyed it.  We had a great variety of items.
Another fun activity we do is that each child has the option to make a poster with 100 objects on it and they bring it in and they share.  The kids are always so proud of their posters.  Here are three of the kids posters.  One used toothpicks, another used pasta, and another students used best choice labels.  The kids were really excited about his because it will go towards our trash to cash race.  (Don't forget to send in those box tops!)
Here are five more students posters.  They used cheerios, stickers, honey nut cheerios, cotten balls, q-tips, and a couple other items.
One of the boys working on his 100th Day Book.  They student wrote 10 words, glued 10 ribbons, wrote 10 letters, wrote 10 numbers, drew 10 pictures, colored 10 triangles, colored 10 coins, wrote 10 names, stuck 10 stickers, and drew 10 shapes.  The kids really enjoyed this activity and did a great job with it!
