Pumpkin Day Dads

On Tuesday morning we had our annual "Pumpkin Day Dad's." This is a time for the students' dads to come in and carve a pumpkin with a small group of kids. We had four Dads volunteer their time to come participate in this activity and it meant so much to the students. We also had Mr. Olmstead and Officer Strong carve a pumpkin with a group of students. It really surprised me when some of the kids did not like pulling the inside of the pumpkin out. I got quite a kick out of some of the kids reactions.
Here is Officer Strong and his group with their final pumpkin.
Mr. Olmstead and his group of students with their completed pumpkin.
Here are two of the girls ready to dig in to pull the seeds out. These girls pulled seeds one time and then they were done. They were more interested in collecting the seeds from the tables and putting them in baggies. They decided they were going to go home and plant the seeds so they could grow their own pumpkins for next year.
These two girls couldn't get enough of cleaning out the pumpkin. They really enjoyed it!
As you can see in this picture, the little guy was not expecting the feeling of the inside of the pumpkin. He kept digging though. He enjoyed it!
